The setting of Dalton Trumbo's "Johnny Got His Gun" is a strange story for anyone that doesn't know whats going on. "Johnny Got His Gun" is about a man by the name of Johnny and his life after the war. The narrator expresses Johnny's thoughts and feelings throughout the story. This is because Johnny cannot do anything but think. He is a quadraped, to him he has no eyes or nose, no mouth or ears. All he can do is sit still in the hospital and think about his life and everything in his past. The time of this story was after World War 1 and a little before World War 2. Everyone was anticapating and worrying about a second world war. Although the story did not always stay in this time period because it kept going back to his old memories. The things people in that time had to go through and the difficult things that this man had to go through meant a lot through out this time.
